Hospital Operations Expert Named to Key Post at Danville Regional Medical Center

Danville, Va., August 2, 2010 - Danville Regional Medical Center (DRMC) today announced the appointment of Cherie Epperson Sibley as Chief Operating Officer (COO), according to Eric Deaton, DRMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO).  Sibley will assume the new post effective October 1. 

Sibley has served as Chief Operating Officer of Vaughan Regional Medical Center (VRMC), a 175-bed hospital in Selma, Alabama, since April 2008.  Prior to that, she held the position of Chief Nursing Officer for VRMC beginning in October 2006. In her current role as COO, Sibley has administrative responsibility for all non-nursing clinical departments and manages the hospital’s physician recruitment and physician relations efforts. During her tenure, Sibley successfully managed over $18 million in capital projects related to facility and technology improvements.  She also led training and development initiatives which resulted in significant improvements in quality measures and patient, physician and employee satisfaction levels. Both DRMC and VRMC are part of LifePoint Hospitals, a leading company focused on providing quality healthcare close to home.

Sibley earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Alabama in Florence and a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis on healthcare administration from South University in Montgomery, Ala. 

An accomplished professional, Sibley is a registered nurse and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives; The Advisory Board Fellowship Program; the American Organization of Nurse Executives, Rural Hospital Strategic Planning Committee; and Alabama Hospital Association Quality Task Force.  Sibley is actively involved in the community and has served as a member of the Selma Charity League, Past President of Civitan Club International, inaugural member of Jackson County Domestic Violence Coalition, and member of Save A Life Foundation. Sibley is a graduate of the LifePoint Leadership Development program, which is designed to prepare participants for top leadership positions within the company. In 2008, Sibley received the Fleetwood Operational Excellence Award from LifePoint Hospitals.
