DANVILLE, Va. (May 20, 2010) - Danville Regional Medical Center (DRMC) has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval TM by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commissions’ national standards for health care quality and safety.
“We are pleased to announce this certification because we believe it demonstrates our commitment to safety and quality care for all of those in the Dan River Region,” says Danville Regional Medical Center CEO Eric Deaton. “We view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation as another step toward achieving excellence,” Deaton added.
The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization, is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States, including more than 8,000 hospitals, home health care organizations, behavioral health care laboratory and ambulatory care services.
“The associates and physician staff have worked diligently for this recognition. This action clearly demonstrates that Danville Regional is providing great patient care,” Director of Quality Services Anne Wood said.
Danville Regional is the leading medical center in the Dan River Region of Virginia and North Carolina, providing open heart surgery and advanced cancer treatment. Approximately 140 physicians are on the medical staff. The medical center employs approximately 1,200 people.
