DANVILLE, VA. (July 20, 2007) - Danville Regional Medical Center officials said today the hospital has received notification from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that it remains in compliance with Medicare conditions of participation following an unannounced, week-long survey conducted in April.
“We are obviously pleased that in an unannounced survey, every key area of the medical center that was reviewed was demonstrated to be in compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation,” said Ruth McDaniel, DRMC’s interim CEO. “This is an excellent example of the commitment by our associates and physicians to provide quality health care to our neighbors in the Dan River region.”
The survey was conducted from April 17 through April 25 of this year by a medical facility inspector from the Virginia Health Department on behalf of the Virginia Health Department and CMS, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The report noted that Danville Regional “demonstrated compliance with the following reviewed Conditions of Participation (in the Medicare program)”: nursing services, emergency services, physical environment, patient rights and quality assessment and performance improvement.
The letter officially advising Danville Regional of its continued status of compliance with Medicare standards came from the CMS Northeast Consortium/Division of Survey and Certification in Philadelphia, PA.
In June, Danville Regional received a similar notification from the Virginia Department of Health, pointing out that no deficiencies were cited at the time of that agency’s visit.
