Danville Regional Blood Services recently revealed its brand new blood mobile at the Riverview Rotary Club Christmas Parade.
The new blood mobile offers the ability to care for three donors at a time, and affords more room within the vehicle. The new blood mobile also includes a refrigerator, cooler compartments and a TV for donors to watch while giving blood.
The new blood mobile has a station that enables associates to include the new ALYX system on board. The ALYX system collects two red blood cell units and returns the donor’s plasma during a single donation.
“The combination of the new blood mobile and the ALYX has enabled us to maintain a greater number of blood and blood product units in the blood bank,” said Karen Chappelle, Donor Center Coordinator. “It is all very exciting.”
