DANVILLE, Va. (Nov. 20, 2008) - Officials announced today Linda Sokos has been promoted to Emergency Preparedness/Infection Control Preventionist at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Linda has been with DRMC for over 33 years, starting as a volunteer phlebotomist in the lab and working in many positions through the years which included: MT in Microbiology, chief technologist in Microbiology, program director of the Medical Technology Program, quality assurance coordinator of the laboratory, and most recently as Infection Control Preventionist.
“Linda has a wealth of knowledge and has been instrumental in the development of our emergency preparedness plan and training,” said Jerel Humphrey, DRMC CEO. “She also coordinates our infection control program and brings a new level of enthusiasm and passion to each of these roles.”
Linda serves as the hospital’s representative to the Near Southwest Preparedness Alliance, (the regional Emergency Preparedness group), and is one of the region’s representatives on the state Hospital Emergency Management Committee.
“I am honored to receive this promotion,” said Sokos. “I love this hospital and enjoy working with my fellow associates and benefit from the interactions I have with the patients and their families. I am looking forward to the new position and am excited to continue my long career here at DRMC.”
Linda is certified in Medical Technology, Microbiology, and Infection Control and Epidemiology. She is a member of the National Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) and serves as the president of the Virginia state chapter of APIC.
She is a member of the city’s Local Emergency Preparedness Committee (LEPC) and the county’s LEPC. She received her BS degree in medical technology from the Medical College of Virginia.
